PLATFORM REQUIREMENTS

TikTok Monetization Requirements

TikTok runs four separate earning programmes with very different entry bars — and one restriction that rules out most of the world regardless of your follower count.

Read this before anything else: the Creator Rewards Program is limited to eight countries

TikTok’s per-view payout programme is only open to creators based in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil, with an account registered in one of those countries. If you are based anywhere else, no amount of followers or views will make you eligible — the programme simply is not offered. Most comparison guides bury this in a footnote.

The useful thing to understand about TikTok is that its programmes are not a ladder — they are four separate doors with different locks. LIVE gifting and Shop affiliate open at around 1,000 followers. The Creator Rewards Program, which is the one that pays directly for views, needs ten times that plus sustained view volume. Brand deals have no threshold at all.

That means a creator with 2,000 followers can already be earning real money through gifts and product commission while being nowhere near the per-view programme.

EASIEST ENTRY

TikTok LIVE — Gifts

Viewers send virtual gifts during live broadcasts, which convert to earnings.

  • 1,000 followers to broadcast live (can vary by region)
  • 18 or older to send or receive gifts — 19 in South Korea
  • Account at least 30 days old
  • A public video published in the last 30 days
COMMISSION

TikTok Shop Affiliate

Earn commission tagging products in your videos and live streams.

  • 18 or older, based in a supported market
  • Identity verification required
  • Account in good standing
PER-VIEW PAYOUTS

Creator Rewards Program

The successor to the Creativity Program, and the only TikTok programme that pays directly for views.

  • 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
  • 18 or older
  • Personal Account only — Business, organisational, political and government accounts are not eligible
  • Based in one of the eight supported countries
  • Account in good standing under Community Guidelines and the Creator Code of Conduct

Which Videos Actually Earn

Meeting the account thresholds is not enough — individual videos have to qualify too.

  • Videos must be longer than one minute
  • Content must be original — Duets and Stitches do not qualify
  • A video needs at least 1,000 For You feed views to earn
  • Only “qualified” views count toward payout
The one-minute rule reshapes your whole content strategy

If your account is built on fifteen-second clips, none of that back catalogue earns under Creator Rewards regardless of how well it performed. Qualifying for the programme and actually earning from it are two separate problems — plenty of creators clear the follower bar and then discover almost none of their content is eligible.

NO THRESHOLD

Brand Deals and UGC Work

Worth stating plainly because it gets lost in threshold discussions: brand partnerships and user-generated content work have no follower requirement at all. Brands hire small accounts constantly, and UGC work — producing content for a brand to use on their own channels — does not depend on your audience size whatsoever.

For creators outside the eight eligible countries, this is frequently the more realistic path than waiting on a programme that is not offered in their market.
